About me

My name is Matthias. Im working as an electrician in Ronneburg. My hobbies are running, mountain biking, skiing, windsurfing and hamradio. Im born in 1980 and since 1999 am active in hamradio. Now I have my third callsingn. Started as DO4FMK (german beginner class), 3 years later I did my next exam and got DM3FM as second call (VHF and up). After 5 months building a bigger station on 2m and 70cm I went again for my next exam, now only cw, and a week later I received my last call, DJ8OG (full licence). My passion is DX´ing and contesting. My two biggest events were the Multi two entry for the cqww ssb in Madeira with Walter´s (DJ6QT) crew. The call was CT9L. I hope I can do such activities again.

I really love DX, and its great to hear your own call coming back in a big bile up. To have better chances to break those pile ups I always try to increase my own station. I just installed my new tower which should carry my hf and vhf/uhf antennas. I installed a crank up tower (BP40) so I can work on the antennas without climbing the tower or the roof like in the years before.

Its also a great experience to be on the other side of the pile up. I did this the first time during the anual Helgoland meeting in april 2004. Nice to produce pile ups from IOTA´s. Then I came for the CQWW to Madeira Island and had the chance to work alot of time under superb conditions in 2004 and had really great pile ups with the great station in CT3. A year later I did that again :-). In august 2005 I visited 2 German islands with the same IOTA No. but with different german reference numbers. Im excited what happens in the future ...

Usually Im active from 160m to 10m. Im also active on 6m, 2m and 70cm. Last fall I could complete my antenna setup and I can be active from 160m up to 70cm. You can see the current antennas and station configuration on my picture side.
